EDT vs EDP vs Parfum

EDT vs EDP vs Parfum: What’s the Difference?

When choosing a fragrance, you may see labels such as EDT, EDP and Parfum. These generally describe the fragrance concentration, which can affect how strong it smells and how long it lasts.

Eau de Toilette (EDT)

EDT is usually lighter, fresher and easier to wear.

It often works well for daytime use, outdoor activities and Singapore’s warm weather.

Typical wear time: Around 3 to 6 hours.

Eau de Parfum (EDP)

EDP usually contains a higher concentration of fragrance oils, giving it a richer scent and longer-lasting performance.

It is a versatile choice for everyday wear, work, dates and evening occasions.

Typical wear time: Around 5 to 8 hours.

Parfum

Parfum usually has the highest fragrance concentration. It may smell deeper, last longer and sit closer to the skin rather than projecting strongly.

Because it is more concentrated, only a small amount may be needed.

Typical wear time: Around 8 hours or more.

Which One Should You Choose?

Choose EDT if you prefer something fresh and light.

Choose EDP if you want a balance between strength and longevity.

Choose Parfum if you prefer a richer fragrance that lasts longer.

However, concentration is only a guide. An EDT can sometimes outperform an EDP, and different versions of the same perfume may have different notes and scents.
